"Gilet jaune" means "yellow vest" in French. These are the bright reflective vests that cyclists (or people in road emergencies) wear at night to avoid getting hit by cars. I thought it was a nice metaphor for how an introvert feels about their extrovert lover.
Lyrics
Gilet jaune oh Gilet Jaune
won't you come out with me
we can ride down the street babe
And go where we please
Gilet Jaune oh Gilet Jaune
So you're over my clothes
They’re not what you would have chose-n
Still ain’t i the one that you chose
You reflect all the light that shines on you
Turn night into day
you shine like a smiling eye
and no one can look away
If I didn't know you
I'm a shadow in the night
I’m a deer in the headlights, dear
I just knew you'd save my life
Gilet Jaune oh Gilet Jaune
if it was all up to me
It'd be just you and me Babe
eat sleep and breathe
You reflect all the light that shines on you
(All … the … light)
Turn night into day
(Make … the … night ... shine)
you shine like a smiling eye
(Smi ... ling ... smile away)
and no one can look away
If I didn't know you
(I… di … dnt know ... you)
I'm a shadow in the night
(in... the... night)
I’m a babe in the woods, babe
(Babe … you … save … my … life)
I just knew you'd save my life
Gilet Jaune oh Gilet Jaune
Won’t you come out with me
It'll be just you and me Babe
eat sleep and breathe
